\u00abTarquim\u00bb\u00a0tradition and future coexist.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The saxophonist, flautist, composer and producer Pau Vidal,<\/strong><\/span> who is also a member of the well-known band The Gramophone All Stars Big Band<\/strong>, leads Tarquim, a group dedicated to creating new songs from diverse popular and folk\u00a0music traditions.<\/p>\n

They already did it on their first album,\u00a0Mar endins<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(Taller de M\u00fasics, 2016), where they exposed popular and traditional Valencian and Mediterranean music to a touch of jazz. In their second studio album to be\u00a0released this September,\u00a0A Cuba<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>(Say It Loud<\/strong>, 2020), they breathe new life into Cuban genres such as descarga, danz\u00f3n, cha-cha-cha, guaguanc\u00f3, columbia and bolero. Cuban and Afro-Cuban musical tradition star in a work\u00a0recorded after months of study in Havana with the big names in Cuban music.<\/div>\n
