Homenage a Medeski, Martin & Wood
Keyboardist Arecio Smith presents a sonic journey inspired by the music of Medeski, Martin & Wood, one of the most unique projects to emerge from the New York scene of the 1990s. Their music—a blend of electric jazz, deep funk, and psychedelic improvisation—pioneered new paths for exploring groove and creative freedom.
With an international career that includes collaborations with artists like Fatoumata Diawara and Andrea Motis, Smith approaches this repertoire with a deep stylistic affinity. His versatility on the keyboard—between organ, electric piano, and synthesizers—allows him to faithfully recreate the sound world of the John Medeski-led trio, maintaining its improvisational spirit, hypnotic groove, and overtly psychedelic character.
