«Fermín Muguruza» celebrates 40 years claiming social rights through music
The Basque artist will review his musical career since the formation of Kortatu in a concert that symbolises the recognition of a long career that has always been unconventional. It is the artist’s personal celebration of the 40 years he has been on stage, from the creation of Kortatu, through Negu Gorriak, to his solo work.
A show that goes beyond a simple concert, where the songs that are already regarded as hymns by more than one generation will be played. Specifically, the artist conceives this tour as an exercise in collective memory and a celebration of life through music, dance and vindication.
Songs such as Black is Beltza, Bere-Bar and La Línea del Frente will be performed with great passion and strength on the night of Es Clasutre. Because Fermín Muguruza is a musician with a long career who has stood out for his powerful lyrics, full of emotion, devotion and social criticism in a need to do away with class stereotypes.
The Basque artist with a punk attitude is also a producer and director of documentary films and has received several awards for his social work and his fight for the rights of those who have less. At Amal Festival in Galicia, he was awarded the prize for best documentary for his work Checkpoint Rock, a film created jointly with the director Javier Corcuera that tells the story of a culture that tries to survive in the dark and where rap, rock and traditional music will be the guiding thread of the story of the protagonists.
