FRAMES Percussion, an ensemble dedicated to newly created repertoire, represents the talent and commitment to the music of its time. Formed by a new generation of percussionists from our country, the group was born with the intention of presenting unique and innovative proposals, which include the most demanding works of the current repertoire, with maximum preparation and maximum respect for new compositional languages.
Linked in its beginnings to Juventuts Musicals de Catalunya and to the ESMUC, the group collaborates regularly with L’Auditori de Barcelona. Has participated in the Mixtur Festival, Fundación Juan March, FiraTàrrega, Sismògraf Olot, MUTEK Barcelona, VANG de Madrid, Riverrun Festival in Albi, GREC Festival, and CNDM, among others.
In the field of performing arts, FRAMES Percussion is responsible for the design and interpretation of the music for the show 5,100 (m/s) by Joan Català and Desert by Albert Quesada. In addition, he has also created the educational show Out of the [CAGE].
The FRAMES repertoire includes iconic works from the repertoire for percussion ensemble and premieres by composers such as Luis Codera Puzo, Núria Giménez-Comas and Sirah Martínez, Alberto Bernal, Meriel Price, Yukiko Watanabe, Cathy van Eck, Ruud Roelofsen, Montserrat Lladó, Helena Cánovas, Manuel Rodríguez-Valenzuela or Pablo Carrascosa.
Frames Percussion, presenta l’obra Timber (2009) de Michael Gordon (1956-), una composició per a sis simandres, instruments de percussió utilitzats des del segle VI en monestirs cristians ortodoxos. A través de canvis en la dinàmica d’un instrument a un altre, es crea un magma sonor constant de patrons ascendents i descendents que esborra qualsevol mena de discreció entre ells. Un concert que posa en diàleg la música i l’entorn del claustre.
