«La Xaranga des Xubec», alive at Es Claustre
Founded in 2010, La Xaranga del Xubec has grown over the years into its current ensemble of electric bass, snare drum, bass drum and other percussion, electric guitar, violin, trumpet, and saxophone.
With this diverse instrumentation, the group delivers an eclectic repertoire that spans New Orleans jazz with a strong swing influence, Balkan music, klezmer, and even melodies that transport audiences to a circus tent. Their distinctive rhythms and styles make for a dynamic presence, whether performing in street parades, intimate venues, or large-scale events.
What sets them apart is their ability to immerse audiences in a world of magic and humor, brought to life through their instruments.
For over a decade, La Xaranga del Xubec has performed across Menorca and participated in major cultural events, including the Mèdit Film Festival, multiple editions of Menorca Jazz, and the Carnivals of Vilanova i la Geltrú and Putignano (Italy). They are also set to perform at the Iznájar Music Festival.
Additionally, the band contributed to the soundtrack of Fernando Colomo’s film La isla bonita and has released three self-produced and self-published albums: Hey, Putum and Hoop hop.
