Perico Sambeat
Perico Sambeat, one of Europe’s most outstanding alto saxophonists and a key figure in Spanish jazz, leads this quintet with a proposal that combines original compositions, standards from the Great American Songbook, and pieces with Latin American influences. His work as a performer, composer, and arranger has earned him numerous awards, including the prestigious Bird Award at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2003, as well as recognition for Best Recording of the Year for Flamenco Big Band in 2008 and 2009.
Throughout his career, Sambeat has shared the stage and recording studio with top-tier musicians such as Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tete Montoliu, Michael Brecker, and Pat Metheny, leading more than one hundred albums and establishing himself as one of the most significant jazz artists Spain has produced.
On this occasion Perico Sambeat visits us in a trio format, accompanied by Pablo Millas on double bass and Guiem Pons on drums. This intimate ensemble fosters dialogue, freedom, and a sense of camaraderie on stage.
